SCHOOL COMMUNITY COUNCIL

 
 
 

School improvement is the responsibility of everyone, from students and parents to professionals and public officials. As we clarify roles, expectations, and responsibilities, we increase the likelihood of each contributing significantly to this most important enterprise. Our children’s future academic success is at stake. School community councils are one way we can work together to make schools more successful. The council is an advisory body. All of its actions and plans are overseen by the local school board.

Parents who participate on the School Community Council assist in developing the yearly school improvement plan by working to identify the school’s most critical needs and recommending a course of action to meet those needs. Additionally, the council members are responsible for allocating the School LAND Trust Funds, which are intended to be be used for implementing components of the school improvement plan. Also, the community council assists in developing and implementing the staff development plan, and advise the school’s principal regarding programs and other issues related to the school environment for student success.
